Joshua Noronha
Joshua found his love for the piano at the age of 7 and was awarded his Licentiate L.mus.A and LTCL (distinction) diploma at the age 15 as a student of Yoon Sen Lee. He was awarded the Emily Reinhardt scholarship and gained his Bachelor’s degree under the guidance of Professor Oleg Stepanov at the Queensland Conservatorium.
Making his Concerto debut at the age of 12, he performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.1 with the Gnessin State Orchestra. His orchestral experience includes performances with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra performing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Mozart’s Double Piano Concerto K.365, and Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra performing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
Internationally, Joshua’s major accomplishments include Best Performance of an Australian Work in the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition 2021, Second Prize in the Lev Vlassenko International Internet Piano Competition Russia 2020, First Prize in the Global International Piano Competition Shenzhen, China 2018 and overall best pianist award winning a contract to perform with the Wu Han Orchestra, First Prize in the XIIth International Rotary Children’s Music Competition in Moscow Russia 2014 where made his concerto debut, Second Prize in the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competitions in 2012, and was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall.
As a soloist, Joshua has performed in prestigious venues such as the Shenzhen Concert Hall, China, the Gnessin State Music College, Russia, Queensland Conservatorium Theatre and Elisabeth and Verbrugghen Hall, where he performed as one of the showcase artists at the 2023 Sydney International Piano Competition. He has also participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians including Behzod Abduraimov, Natasha Vlassenko, Piers Lane, Andreas Weber and Thomas Hecht.
Having been a teacher for nearly 10 years, Joshua loves encouraging and guiding his students to learn and love music, bringing the best out of them. As a result, his students have been top prize winners across the country and have achieved top marks in exams. Alongside his professional music-related activities, Joshua frequently performs in fundraising concerts for charities and other organisations. His aim is to bring the joys and wonders of classical music throughout the world.
