Nicole Li  ( Being new to Australia provides new opportunities)

9 year old Nicole was born in China and moved with her family to Australia when she was 3. She began her music journey at age 5.

Under the tutelage of Ms. Ivy Chan & Mr. Yoon Sen Lee, it took her only one year to start winning some local and international music competitions including:

First Prize, Preliminary Grade Piano Solo, North of Perth (2015): Second Prize, Piano Solo Under 8, Fremantle Eisteddfod (2016)

First Prize, Piano Solo Grade 6 Romantic, South Suburban (2016): Certificate of Excellence, Golden Classical Music Awards (2017)

 

Nicole was awarded the First Prize of Young Musician from the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition in Salzburg

Austria, and performed at Wiener Saal Mozarteum on July 13, 2016. She was chosen as the winner of the special prize Golden ClassicalMusic Awards International Competition New York, and was invited

to perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on March 5, 2017.

Nicole is an active member of two choirs - “Junior Voice All Saints College and “Bridge Choir” Yoon Sen Lee Music School. She

often performs for local churches and school concerts. Nicole is very enthusiastic about piano performance. Besides,

Nicole also plays the violin.

Penelope Sun Honmon (Starting young, Rising fast)  

Penelope started learning piano when she is 4.5 years old in June 2016 under our music teacher Ivy Lee. With guidance and dedication, She was playing a grade 4 piece Sonatina Op35 no 2 when she turned 6 years old. Penelope showed tremendous progress and becomes quite a natural with early introduction of piano while she was still in preschool.

Jeremiah Wang ( Children can be excellent in music with an early start )​

10 year old Jeremiah was born in  Western Australia.  He started piano lessons at age of 4.   In 2015, Jeremiah came under the tutelage of Yoon Sen Lee.  Jeremiah has been very successful with piano competitions, winning various sections at the South Suburban Eisteddfod, North of Perth Music Festival, Fremantle Eisteddfod and Western Australian Pianist Competition.  He also received the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) encouragement award in 2015.  Jeremiah has successfully completed grade 8 Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) piano performance exam in November 2016 with a A+ (high distinction).  

Internationally, Jeremiah has been invited and has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York on 7th November 2016 due to success at Golden Classical competition.  More recently, he has won first prize at the Grand Virtuoso Competition and will perform in Salzburg, Austria in July 2017.

In his academic studies, Jeremiah is in Year 5 at Christchurch Grammar School and participates in academic enrichment/extension programme.  He also performs regularly at concerts in his school and has successfully represented his school in chess, mathematics and writing competitions.  Recently, Jeremiah has been awarded the Christchurch Grammar School Music Scholarship.

 

Jeremiah has also been playing the violin since age 4.  He has completed Australian Music Examinations Board Violin Grade 4 Exam at age of 7. He is currently working on grade 6/7 pieces on violin.  He is also concert master in his primary school orchestra.

Hannah Wang (Started at 3, never too young to start  )

9 year old Hannah from Western Australia, started piano lessons at 3 and half and in Jan 2014, Hannah came under the tutelage of Yoon Sen Lee. Hannah has been very successful with piano competitions, winning various sections at the South Suburban eisteddfod, North of Perth Music Festival, Fremantle eisteddfod and she was the Overall Best Junior Performer Award at the WA Pianists Competition in 2015 after claiming two first prizes and two second prizes including solo recitals, grade 8 recital and concerto sections. She was also named Overall Best Junior Pianist in North of Perth Music Festival 2016.

 

Due to her success at the WA Pianists Competition, Hannah has been invited and performed at Carnegie Hall in New York on 30th April 2016 in conjunction with the Golden Key Music Festival as one of two guest artists. She was awarded a diploma and a medal after her performance.

Hannah has also won first prize at the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music competition and performed in Metallener Saal, Musikverein, Vienna in September 2015. She has also participated in masterclasses (under Ingrid Fliter) and performed at Summer Festival in Imola, Italy in July 2016. She was also a semifinalist in international competition in Malaysia in May 2016. In 2017, Hannah won first prize at the Concours International Piano Competition in Paris, as well as was chosen to perform at the Astana Piano Passion in Kazakhstan.

Hannah completed her grade 8 Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) piano performance exam at the age of 7 in Nov 2015 and obtained Honours (A grade).

In her academic studies, Hannah is a student at the Methodist Ladies College, where she has been accelerated academically to year above and skipping a school grade. She was awarded academic excellence award for being top student in her class in 2016. She has MENSA level IQ. She also performs in piano recitals at her school.

Hannah has also been playing the violin since age 4. She has completed the Australian Music Examinations Board Violin Grade 4 Exam at age of 5 with Honours/ A grade. She is working currently on AMEB Grade 6/7 pieces on her violin. She currently plays in her Methodist Ladies College Symphony Orchestra with the Senior/High school girls.

 

 

Daniel Mah

15 year old Daniel Mah has been under the instruction of Yoon Sen since he was five years old. Throughout his time with him, Daniel has won numerous and various prizes in Open and Under 18 sections in piano competitions in Western Australia such as Fremantle Eisteddfod, North of Perth Music Festival and West Australia Pianists Competition, which he participates in annually. He has also performed with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. He regularly performs at charity events, old age homes and hospitals. He received the Associate and Licentiate Diplomas from Trinity College London for piano performance with distinction when he was 12 and 13 respectively and received his L.Mus.A in Perth and Adelaide with distinction when he was 14. He is currently a year 10 music scholarship student at Christ Church Grammar School.
